Okay so many people would say this could happen to any role but all the operational roles around us are business funded and yet my L&D team has been shifted over to sit under a transformation budget that ends in a years time.

I been there for 12 months and have 12 months left. I’m gutted because I moved to this organisation from an environment that was constantly restructuring with my team’s future being very uncertain. My position/ the new L&D team was supposed to be funded by the business unit. Sometime after I joined they slid it under this transformation project’s budget.

I gave up my senior L&D position to take this job but luckily didn’t lose $$ or I wouldn’t have accepted it. Just wanted job security and thought that was what I was getting. If it was a fixed term position I wouldn’t have applied. Basically it’s now a fixed term position but with a small payout at the end if/when they make us redundant.

I sort of stumbled on the information too which sux. I’m now focussed on trying to side step into another L&D position within the company.

Someone in the HR L&D team left and I’m planning on applying for that role as soon as it goes live. A bunch of other people from my team will also go for it.

Anyways thanks for reading this. Just so frustrating that our craft always seems to be deprioritised when it comes to money.

Wish me luck for applying to the other internal (HR) job.
