Do I (a tenant) have a statutory duty to give a certain period of notice under the Renters’ Rights Act to my landlord in order to extend my tenancy for a short period? (London, England)

I am currently residing in a flat under a tenancy which commenced as a year-long tenancy starting July 2025 and (originally) ending July 2026.

For personal reasons I require a short extension past July. I am able to pay rent and have done so promptly.

I understand that under the Renters’ Rights Act, all fixed term tenancies have been converted to assured periodic tenancies. Hence:

  1. Is the “period” a month-to-month tenancy under the RRA?
  2. If I require the two-month extension, do I have a statutory duty to give notice to the landlord of this intention? I understand that I have a duty to give a two-month notice before terminating my tenancy.

Thank you all in advance.

Edit: If relevant, the original tenancy commenced as an assured short hold tenancy under the Tenancy Act.

So I’ve been noticing missed focus a lot. I know what this machine can do. I just need to know how to do it. Like indoor for my kids photos or outdoors daylight tracking subjects and anything else of your expertise and suggestions please!
