Advice for a fic ship
So I'm in the VERY early stages of planning an AU fic set after they stop Ozai. It'll follow all the Gaang after the war with some canon deviations. I'm planning on doing Zutara (sue me), so that would obviously leave Aang without a love interest. And I'm split between either doing:
Aang x Toph (with a lot more development).
Or making an OC.
The reason I'm considering doing an OC is because, at least in my opinion, if Aang didn't end up with Katara or somebody he already knew (like Toph), he'd end up in a marriage of convenience type thing.
Because he obviously needed to have a family in order to rebuild the Airbenders, so I think it would kinda make sense for him to marry a close friend (whom he trusted and cared for without having romance) to rebuild the airbenders with him.
This is especially because of what we know about Aang's parenting in TLOK. Aang was a bad father to Kya and Bumi because Tenzin was an airbender while the other two weren't, so it would make sense for him to have a marriage of convenience for the sake of the Air Nomads. He focused more on his airbender son because he was the first step to rebuilding the Air Nomads. He cared about his family, yes, but rebuilding his people was always a priority to him.
So basically, I'm wondering whether to do Aang x OC or Aang x Toph. I'd really appreciate any opinions.
