05 07 26 Ray Hanania on Politics Frank Calabrese and Samantha Steele | It's long but worth a view

This is Ray Hanania on Politics Podcast, Thursday May 7, 2026 … my guest is Frank Calabrese, a former aid to Board of Review District 2 commissioner Samantha Steele who about 18 months ago got into a head on car crash on the northside of Chicago on Nov. 10, 2024 … police went to the scene and confronted a driver who appeared intoxicated, reported a half empty bottle of booze, and who refused to take a field sobriety test and kept telling the police “I am an elected official.”

Steele was found not guilty in a bench trial, not by the jury but by former Cook County Judge Donald Suriano brought back to service for this case (elected in 1996 and retired in 2016.

With me to discuss this is Frank Calabrese, a former aid to Steele who is now a political consultant. Frank is not related to the famous Calabrese family.

My hypothesis is that birds actually think faster than humans. How else can they fly thru bushes/tress and maneuver so smoothly? When Charlie encountered that large worm there was zero hesitation, he quickly grabbed it. That was the first time Charlie had seen the big worm among the little ones, in fact he was familiar with just the little worms. I have said this many times here before, bird behavior fascinates me.

First thing in the morning Charlie stops by and grabs 3 worms for his nestlings. He has been coming by many times a day and grabbing worms which is sure sign there are hungry nestlings. Plus his mate Bessie is only coming by once in the morning and once in the evening, and does not take any worms. She is busy all day guarding her kids wile Charlie is out getting food for them.
