reddit.comTrump Administration: Insults, Not Answers
Congressman Jamie Raskin D-MD) is the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee. Along with many other Democrats, he has called for President Donald Trump to undergo a serious cognitive assessment. This is the response from the partially demolished presidential residence:
"Lightweight Jamie Raskin is a stupid person’s idea of a smart person," stated White House spokesperson Davis Ingle.
Hmm. Well, let's compare. Young master Davis matriculated - bachelor's and MBA - at Florida's Southeastern University where his daddy happens to be the president. Southeastern is ranked as high as #395 - #434 in the US News and World Report system. Sadly, it is not even in the top ten of Florida colleges and universities.
Meanwhile, "lightweight" Jamie Raskin graduated magna com laude from both Harvard and Harvard Law. Harvard is ranked #1 in the US and somewhere between #1 and #5 in the world. And then he spent 25 years as a constitutional law professor at American University before entering politics himself.
To Davis Ingle: Jamie Raskin's resume would suggest to even bright, accomplished people that he is no lightweight. It's obvious that politeness is not part of the White House spokesperson's job description. But basic research before firing off insults should be, if only to avoid continual embarrassment.

CMV: The Ending of "Grease" Wasn't That Problematic.
I keep seeing lists of movies online that "couldn't be made today". Without fail, 1978's "Grease" is always included. The problem - claim the compilers of the lists - is that Sandy had to change into a leather-suited, ratted-hair slut to finally land Danny Zuko.
What the critics leave out is that Danny changed his whole persona from gang leader to athlete to become worthy of the Sandy that he had met at the beach and mooned over for the whole school year. Yes, he did attempt to take things too far at the drive-in, but it was hardly an actual assault. His confusion was evident in the song "Sandy" he sang after she stormed off on foot. Danny had a lot to learn, and did. He told his buddies how much Sandy meant to him and that he would do anything to get her back.
In the end, I see "Grease" as the tale of two young people just trying to feel their way into their futures. It is slightly reminiscent of O. Henry's "Gift of the Magi" and not a sordid story of a girl gone bad.
The GOP Has a Real Image Problem Going Forward
For the past 11 years, Donald Trump has been the superstar of the Republican cosmos, the party's strongman, it's face and voice. Whether through stupidity, laziness, indifference, or being intimidated, Republicans in Congress, the judicial system, and even state governments were more than willing to cede power and responsibility to him. Whatever Trump wanted, they tried to deliver. But the times they are a-changin', and not for the better for the Grand Old Party. The superstar's light is fading, dimmed by continuing inflation - especially at the gas pump - and inability to satisfactorily finish his unnecessary war of choice against a much weaker nation. His trip to China - an excursion that won no true concessions from Xi Jinping - has made a mockery of his claims of strength.
His little red hats and slogans are becoming a joke. Everything that made America great was in place long before he came down that escalator in 2015 and - despite his unhinged incompetence - will continue long after he slithers away in 2029, if not sooner. And now even some of his most devoted cultists are seeing that he is not one of them, doesn't actually care about their problems, and certainly was not right about everything. Poll after poll shows America's growing disaffection for Donald Trump, his roller coaster policies, and his self-serving antics. This is particularly bad news for all of the potential Republican candidates for the 2028 presidential race.
At the moment the main contenders for the Republican nomination seem to be VP JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and - of all people - Donald Trump, Jr. There are a few senators and governors who have shown interest as well, but they all have the same anchor dragging them down. They have all bowed and kowtowed to the senior Trump, acknowledging his overlordship, marching in lockstep while desperately clinging to his coattails. This groveling has a price. None of them has Trump's fire or stage presence. They have all basically allowed themselves to be seen as nothing but second teamers. Agreeing with and generally supporting your party's leader is one thing. Publicly kissing his ass for over a decade does not demonstrate your fitness to become one of the most powerful people in the world. The voters are noticing.

Trump's Mother's Day Message and One Question.
Trump's Truth Social Message: “Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all, especially to the 115 THOUSAND AMERICANS who found jobs in the month of April alone! As usual, over 90 percent of Bloomberg Economists (nearly all of whom have a 'Terminal' case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!) underestimated the strength of the Trump Economy. Despite the best efforts of Jerome 'Too Late and Won't Leave' Powell, and the America Hating Democrat Party, more Americans are working today than ever before. Happy Mother’s Day and, know that, we are MAKING AMERICA WEALTHY AND SAFE AGAIN!”
