Like many people here, I’ve started a lot of projects before and abandoned them after a few weeks. Because of that, I still don’t have a single complete project I can properly showcase.
About a month ago, I decided to seriously build one idea instead of constantly switching projects.
Right now, I already have:
- rough backend setup
- SMS parsing implemented
- transaction extraction logic working
- local database integration in progress
The app’s goal is basically:
- parse financial SMS messages
- extract transaction details automatically
- categorize and track expenses
- eventually become a privacy-focused personal finance tracker(FOSS)
Current stack:
- Android (Jetpack Compose)
- Kotlin
- Room
- planning FastAPI/backend integrations later
What I’m missing badly:
- UI/UX help(I'm very bad in it)
- frontend polish
- developers interested in contributing long-term in the team(not paid currently)
I’m not pretending this is some startup or huge thing yet. I just genuinely want to finally finish and ship a real project instead of abandoning another one halfway.
If you:
- want learn Android/Compose
- want to collaborate on an actual usable app
- or just enjoy building things
feel free to contact.
Even feedback on the idea/project direction is appreciated.
