upgrading from Osprey Daylite 26+6 — Fyro Levo 36L too big?

Hey, looking for some advice from people who have used bags in the 30–36L range.

I’m 22, about 165 cm / 5'5", and I’m slowly moving toward longer one-bag travel. I have a 3-week China trip this October, probably another month-ish trip in early 2027, and maybe a 3–6 month trip later in 2027.

Right now I use the Osprey Daylite 26+6. It works, but it feels pretty cramped. Maybe it’s just the way I pack, but it feels like there’s very little spare room, and I need to pack it almost perfectly every time. (Weight is 5.5-6kg most of the time)

I’m looking at something bigger, around 30–36L. Main options I’m considering:

  • Fyro Levo 36L
  • Fyro Levo 30L
  • other similar bags I may be missing

The Fyro Levo 36L looks really good, but it’s about 53 cm tall, and I’m worried it might be too long for my torso or just feel huge on me.
* Aer travel packs are so heavy which is something I am not interested in.

My questions:

  1. For someone around 165 cm, is a 53 cm tall backpack too much?
  2. Is the Fyro Levo 30L actually a real upgrade over the Daylite 26+6, or too close in capacity?
  3. Any other 32–36L bags you’d recommend for longer travel?

Thanks!

Montbell Alpine Light vs Patagonia Down Sweater for travel layering?

Hey, I’m trying to choose one long-term puffer for travel and would appreciate some opinions.

I’m looking for a jacket that works in a simple travel layering system:

Merino T-shirt / base layer + puffer + rain shell

I’m not trying to handle extreme winter or anything like -20°C. More like normal travel cold: cold city evenings, windy viewpoints, early mornings, and maybe mountain areas around 0°C to -5°C for short periods.

The two jackets I’m mainly considering are:

  • Montbell Alpine Light Down Jacket
  • Patagonia Down Sweater

From what I understand, the Montbell seems warmer and better warmth-to-weight. The Patagonia seems more “normal” looking and maybe easier as an everyday/travel jacket.

My questions:

  1. Is the Montbell Alpine Light too warm for around 10°C city evenings?
  2. Is the Patagonia Down Sweater warm enough as the main puffer if I’m trying to skip carrying a fleece most of the time?
  3. Which one is better as a long-term travel jacket, assuming I care about sufficient warmth, packability, and looking normal?
  4. Is there another jacket in this category I should be considering?

I’m okay paying more for the right jacket if it’s something I can keep for years. I just don’t want to buy something too light/delicate and regret it, or something too technical/warm for normal city travel.
