2004 g35
I just got my first VQ for a drift car after only owning BMWs. so I know nothing about this car. I need some wisdom dropped on me. the car is engine swapped with another stock 3.5 engine, its manual and all the transmission stuff is solid same with suspension. I'm just having small engine problems that I know are fix but I need to be pointed in the right direction for common failures. I also want to do some preventative maintenance on the car. This week since I've got the car I have done : Crankshaft and camshaft sensors 1&2. Did an oil and filter change. drilled and slotted rotors, new o2 censors, battery, aftermarket intake. got the exhaust done. the car was working fine when I got it then it started dying after 10 min + of driving so I did research and that's why I did crank and cam sensors. it ran for a day then wouldn't start but I could smell fuel and the starter sounded good and strong so I checked spark plugs and coils then they were covered in oil. I'm taking care of the plugs and coils tmrw to see if that's why it wasn't starting and if it is I know all I need to do it the spark plug seal. but I learned If they leak significantly, you must replace the entire valve cover assembly rather than just a simple seal for the plugs, so since I already have to do that if anybody has suggestions for other things I could do at the same time let me know !!
