Wanted to try becoming a TACP in the guard but was told by the recruiter that their TACP unit was closed down.
I originally wanted to go for TACP since I really want a field/tactics related job and knew that I was up for the challenge. I recently asked my recruiter what the availability and opportunities to become one were currently like and they told me that their TACP unit was recently replaced by a contingency response unit. and because the only other “tactical style” job that I know of that would probably be available considering the closest guard unit to my area is an airlift wing would be security forces and that I heard from other people on this sub as well as other forums that it wouldn’t be worth it, as well as the fact that it doesn’t have the same infantry like identity/nature as TACP, I would like to know what other jobs I could still ask my recruiter about? Considering ofc my interests/reasons of wanting to enlist.
(P.S. I’m 18 graduating HS and my parents aren’t letting me consider any other branches)
