Unico equipment

Has anyone ever had to completely redo all the ductwork when replacing a Unico (high velocity) system? Little backstory, last year my company got burned because we did a change out a Unico system. We did like for like in the sizing of it (3 tons I think) but the thing never worked right from start on new install. Customer complained, we had our Unico expert come out and explained we needed to basically double the runs on the thing, and also upsize the supply plenum pipe. Explained that ECM motors impact the Unico systems so much more than normal because of the high velocity motor. Well, I just ran into a dead empty system today, and the air is already screaming through the existing runs! We’re bringing our guy out again, and I can almost guarantee the same thing is going to happen. Anyone else experiencing this? I’m not necessarily complaining, I’m getting paid the same, but it seems like Unico customers are getting screwed. You can’t replace it with a standard air handler.
