I’m looking to buy a compact travel camera and the Sony A7Cii sound perfect for my needs. I’m an enthusiast, not a professional photographer, and the size/performance balance seems perfect for travel.
The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger is the fact that it already feels “old” to me since it released in 2023. I know it’s still a fantastic camera, and even if i bout even a 10+ YO camera i would still get great results, but i keep thinking that likely the EVF and screen from the a7v will trickle down into the new generation of the A7C.

So now I’m stuck between
buying the current model because it already does everything I need or waiting for the next version because I know I’ll care about the EVF/screen when the new version came out, hopefully by this year.
Part of it is definitely excitement/impatience I want a camera now for travel but I can’t fully get over the feeling of buying “last gen” hardware. Specially because its not a business decision (i am not a professional photographer), its something ill do as a hobby and if im going to splurge, i want every aspect of it to be top notch.

Wonder what you guys think?

I currently have an old bulky nikon DSLR that I actually use for work (document my work) and completely LOVE.
