2XL Accessories, or Lack Thereof

Good morning,

I am frustrated with the lack of accessories for the 2XL Egg. It’s almost as if BGE abandoned it. Pizza wedges, a 5-piece Eggspander and a rotisserie wouldn’t go amiss.

Thank you.

How Do You Make Kiln-Dried Wood Taste Better?

Good evening,

I watch videos about grilling/smoking, and they pretty well all seem to agree that naturally-seasoned wood is superior to kiln-dried, where moisture content and, therefore, flavor, are concerned. However, what cannot be denied is that kiln-dried is more readily available, and can safely be transported anywhere, without any risks to fragile ecosystems.

How do I reconcile the two?

Thank you.

Thermoworks RFX Ambient Probe, in a Grill Dome Thermometer?

Good evening,

Would an ambient temp probe work in a grill dome thermometer? Not as it is, of course, but something similar to the ChefsTemp ProTemp S1 Smart Grill Gauge Thermometer Hub.

Obviously, patents being what they are, Thermoworks can’t make exactly that product, but I’ve already spent plenty of money on the Thermoworks RFX ecosystem, and I’d much rather stay with it, than get the ChefsTemp ProTemp setup.

Again, obviously, Thermoworks can’t disclose product developments, but there seems to be a missed opportunity here.

Thank you.

Good morning,

I had an issue with my inverter last week, where it would shut off when the Billows fan wasn’t running for an extended period. The cook, a pulled ham (credit where it’s due: I got the idea from Hey Grill Hey, and did a deeper dive, based on my equipment), was successful, so I’m not terribly disappointed, but I do want to avoid this problem in the future.

The setup:

Kamado Joe Classic II, w/Smokeware chimney, KJ charcoal basket, some generic ash can from Amazon

Fogo gold bag XL lump charcoal

Some kiln-dried cherry chunks I’ve had in my shed for years

A non-spiral-sliced, bone-in ham that has been in the freezer since Nov. 2023

Thermoworks RFX, two probes (one of which may have a bad battery; I’ll reach out to them when I get home), Billows w/damper, AC adapter

Thermapen One

Milwaukee M18 Top-Off inverter (not the dual-direction USB-C one, which doesn’t have an inverter, although I do appreciate it for what it can do), M18 12.0Ah Forge battery

I do not have an outdoor outlet near my grill pad. I would need to use an extension cord.

If I were to have a 12v USB-C cable, into a 12V USB-C power source, such as a Milwaukee M12 dual-direction power supply/charge, the model name I can’t be bothered to remember - would that work, or am I stuck in the land of proprietary battery packs? I like the idea that I can use my existing batteries, which I use for my power tools, and swap them out, as need be.

Before anyone suggests I get something like this:

Please bear in mind that, because of what happened last Saturday, I have done so, but, because of work, have not been able to actually use it.

Thank you.
