Today, the entire Dental Office staff was informed that, effective June 1st, the Health Department will no longer operate its dental clinic. This clinic has been one of the busiest in the county, making this decision difficult to justify.
Not only does this closure eliminate a vital service for underprivileged children and their dental needs, but it also results in the loss of jobs for employees who have dedicated decades of service—many of whom played an essential role during the pandemic.
This decision reflects a troubling pattern. The mayor is gradually dismantling the Health Department, the only public health system serving our community. First Sequoyah Health Center was closed, then Ooltewah Health Center, and now the downtown dental clinic.
These actions show a clear disregard for both the community members who rely on these services and the employees whose livelihoods depend on them.
Please vote this man out. He only cares about his pockets. Why are the “honorable “ members of the counsel allowing this? How much money has this frivolous wamp promised them? Aren’t you mad Chattanoogans? He is selling your public health services to his cronies. Wake up.
