As you can see from the attached PNG, I'm running a monoblue laptop.

Here's the sequence I've done (multiple times):

• I cast the .img file from the Steam Support page to a thumbdrive using Rufus or BalenaEtcher (sometimes one, sometimes the other, depending on which OS is running on my primary)
• I boot from the thumbdrive.
  • Yes, Secureboot is disabled
• I get a screen full of console, with a bunch of green Okays
• A line eventually appears that says "Welcome to SteamOS"
• More lines of console
• A black screen
• GRUB appears and my normal OS boots back up
