If the Incas knew about the wheel but didn't use it because of a lack of large pack animals, why didn't they use it in things that do not require such animals, like pulleys or water mills?
Whenever I looked up about why the Incas didn't use the wheel, I would be bombarded with the answer that they knew about it (as it was used in children's toys) but they couldn't use it because of the rocky terrain and the lack of large pack animals.
I am now travelling in Peru, and walking through the andes. During my hikes I started to wonder - why didn't they use water mills? (To crush quinoa or corn). Also, why didn't they create a pulley tha humans could use to build large scale buildings?
