I’ve been a silent viewer on here for a while and after seeing so many people share their experiences with keloids I was like why not just post too lol.
I’m 21 now but I didn’t start getting keloids until I was around 16. I’ve had acne on my face and body since I was about 12 so when I first noticed these bumps on my shoulders and chest I honestly thought it was just more acne and that it would go away. But it didn’t.
When I finally went to a dermatologist and they told me they were keloids and I was really devastated. They explained that keloids don’t just go away and that even with treatment they can be hard to manage. At the time it felt like a lot to deal with because I was already struggling with acne and then being told I have thick raised scars too I just got really upset like wow double trouble.
I did try steroid injections before but I wasn’t consistent and I’m also really scared of needles so I would avoid going. Because of that they stayed pretty thick for a long time.
This year I made a promise to myself to actually stay consistent with treatment. I’ve been going once a month for steroid injections and I’ve finally started seeing real improvement especially on my chest. It used to be very red, itchy, and irritated but after 3 rounds of injections it’s flatter, less red, and not itchy anymore.
I’m still continuing treatment and I’ll keep updating my progress.
One thing I really like about this subreddit is how supportive everyone is and how people share real results it honestly gives me hope. So I just want to say to anyone struggling with keloids I know it’s hard but don’t lose hope.
Your skin doesn’t make you any less beautiful. 🤍
