Hey ya'll,

I have been trying to arrange for time off for our first egg retrieval/transfer. Initially, my employer denied my PTO request, so I tried to apply for FMLA job protections. However, we found out yesterday that our FMLA request was denied. The claims adjustor told me that, "Unfortunately, FMLA does not cover any IVF at this time."

I've heard of others using FMLA to get time off for IVF, so I'm wondering:

Is she wrong? Can it be covered in WA state?

Has the law changed and she's correct that it's not covered?

What has to be included in the request packet to get approval?

What are my options? Does anyone else have experience navigating this?
