Working on applying into a local Bioinformatics MSc after spending time outside of academia to support family. Im passionate about the field and would love to get back to research in general and massively up my skills (even coming from a wet lab background), and after that I would love to go into a PhD after this.

However,

Reading this sub is making me already feel like I’m committing to something that amounts to career/financial doom. I know we cant predict how the job market is gonna look in the years its gonna take to complete this path. Its not even a money thing either I dont look at this field as a get rich quick thing, and I know pay isnt gonna be a home run. But the job availability/security fears that seem to permeate around here are starting to make me self doubt.

Is there any hope?
