Seeking Advice for Reading/Preserving an Apple II Game Disk
Hi, I’m new to the Apple II scene and could use some advice. I’m researching a game and bought it. My goal is to get the disk into a readable form so I can inspect its contents. From what I understand, the original disk may use a protected/custom format, so a normal file/catalog extractor may not be enough. Since I only have a MacBook and a Windows PC, I’m currently considering this workflow: Applesauce FDC plus an Apple II-compatible 5.25-inch drive, A2R preservation image and WOZ working image, analysis & emulation, Passport attempts, and decoding. Does that sound like the right approach? I’d also appreciate recommendations for specific 5.25-inch drives that work well with Applesauce FDC, and whether there are better tools or workflows for eventually creating a readable/cracked copy from the protected original. Thank you.
