So, I recently got my hands on a Mac Mini M4 256gb device, and since I am new to mac OS i could need some advice how to set it up for most convenient use and what apps/programs are useful and what should be avoided.

I live in the apple cosmos for years now, i have a lot of devices, like an ipad pro 12.9 (2022)(which I use as secondary monitor via sidecar), an iPhone 15 pro max, apple watch ultra 2, AirPods pro 3, 2x HomePods mini and a apple tv 4k 2024. So there’s lots of stuff which could get used together.

But for pcs i was always the Windows guy. I still have a gaming pc with a 4090 and a 7800x3d, both devices (pc and mac) are stationary paired with an 165hz Alienware 3423dwf ultrawide oled screen,in the case of the mac via an usb c to dp cable.

My peripherals (mouse, keyboard, stream deck, controller, mic, cam and headphones) are connected to an usb switch,so i can easily switch all devices between my mac and my gaming pc. I‘ve setup a key combination (which I put on the stream deck) to switch monitor sources easily.

So now I only need advices on recommended apps/programs, use cases, apple device integrations, and which settings I should enable/disable/change on my mac and maybe my ipad as it’s the second screen.

I‘d love to hear all your ideas and suggestions :)
