I have been watching a lot of Dimension 20 lately and toying with the idea of giving DMing a go to improve my story telling (I obviously don’t expect myself to reach Brennan Lee Mulligan level anytime soon but it looks like a lot of fun).

My improv skill has gotten a lot better and I’ve been playing a pretty consistent campaign for about 5 months now with my group to the point where my understanding of the 5.5e mechanics has gotten significantly better. I just wanna make sure that I actually give myself enough time to set it up.

What should I take into consideration while prepping my first campaign? I want to tell a cohesive story but still give my players a chance to get into the improv aspect of role playing that can result in some pretty funny/catastrophic consequences. I don’t feel comfortable doing a homebrew yet so any recommendations for a first campaign?
