Wife gifted me Boderry Landmaster!
Been eyeing this watch for a while but couldn’t get myself to get it for some reason or the other. New watch itch was getting to me and then wife handed over her credit card and asked me to buy whatever i want for my birthday.
Got this! Since BMW M340i wouldn’t work with her credit limit.
This comes with a nylon Nato strap, i added the titanium bracelet as an add-on. Opted for express shipping which was an extra 30 dollars. Total damage: Rs. 20950.
With express shipping, the watch was dispatched the next day but ended up taking 24 days to get to me thanks to our customs where it was stuck for 2.5 weeks. Was not charged any duties (phew).
Coming to the watch, it is light, unbelievably light thanks to titanium built.
Pros:
looks amazing: the textured dial, big numerical, contrasty hands.
reliable movement: This uses NH-35 by Seiko. The workhorse movement for us mid-low tier collectors. This is my 3rd watch with this movement. Reliable with accuracy anywhere between 15-50 +/- per day.
domed sapphire: Generally entry level watches with sapphire crystal are milky and not the most clear glasses out there. Comparing with Casio’s entry Sapphire, this is MILES ahead, very clear and eligible from shape viewing angles too. And because it’s domed, it adds depth to the dial as well.
Amazing packaging and kit: The watch is shipped in a plastic shipping container shaped box. VERY COOL! They send strap removal tool as well. The bracelet has screws which makes it easy to adjust size!
Cons:
the coating: i believe the titanium has a grey coating on top. I fear this will wear soon exposing the metal inside with wear. Not something that is a deal breaker for me, i generally like my watches with scuffs but just a point to know.
OEM Nato strap is mid: very thin, the metal hoops feel flimsy. Not fitting to a watch that costs 20k. Tbh i find this watch to look better with Nato strap so maybe an aftermarket strap can do wonders!
dial alignment: very minor issue but date switches to next at 12:04 am rather than sharp 12:00 am. Which means the hands were not aligned when the watch was assembled. It’s very minor, most will not notice and this has no effect in day to day use.
