Many social encounters involve two individuals who are simultaneously attempting to:

-come across as a normal human being,

-trying to hide their insecurities,

-anticipate how they will be assessed based on their behaviour and

-uphold a certain image of themselves.

Meaning: It seems that society might consist of billions of people who are simply presenting themselves as more emotionally secure than they truly are.
