Hello my friends. I have designated myself as family lore keeper and am downloading all my families mid 90s to early 2000s tapes to digital. I have an idea of what the issue is but need some advice.
The camera we have is the Song 64x handycam Video 8 XR using Hi8 tape. Using an rca cable (mono audio to L and R audio converter as seen in the photo) to a $10 capture card I got off Amazon. I’m using OBS Studio to record the video.
Each of the tapes I’ve done so far have normal color for the first 10-15 minutes, then it turns into these color lines over the video. Using the cameras display, I can see the issue only appears on my computer screen and iPhone screen when recording or viewing the video. The audio seems fine from what I can hear during the recording process and a quick listen to already recorded video. Because if my I’m video illiterate, I have no idea what the term is called for my issue, so searching online for help is tough. I’ve seen some people have other issues and the main fix was a better capture card.
The issue I have with that fix is I watched videos of people with the exact same capture card and camera, and they have no issues.

(P.s. the photos are of me and my mom during my 2nd birthday, so it’s not some random family member who isn’t ok with me using the image for example 😁)
