Question about the new customization options / Need some visuals!

Hi everyone,

I generally think the new customization options are awesome. I’m just having a bit of trouble visualizing some of them and how they’ll actually look on the boots.

Are there any photos or more detailed descriptions available for the following yet?

  • Relief Cut
  • Padded Gusset
  • Double Celastic Toe
  • Top Hook
  • Top Logger Eye
  • Gusset Color

Thanks a bunch!

Hi everyone,

My six-year-old has been obsessed with drums for a while now. We've finally found a teacher he clicks with, his first lesson is coming up, and his birthday is around the corner, so it's time to get him a kit of his own. Problem is, I never made it past the recorder myself, so I'm completely out of my depth here. Hoping some of you can help me sort through a few things.

1. E-drums vs. acoustic

We could set an acoustic kit up in the basement, so noise bleeding into the rest of the house isn't really the issue. What I'm unsure about is whether a real kit is just too loud for a kid's ears, even with hearing protection - and if there's decent hearing protection that actually works for someone that small. The other thing I'm wondering: if he starts on e-drums, how hard is the eventual switch to acoustic? We're currently leaning toward e-drums, but is there anything else we should be weighing here?

2. Pre-built set vs. building one ourselves

Budget is around $650. In other hobbies I've noticed that starter bundles look great on paper but cut a lot of corners - you end up with mediocre everything instead of a few solid core pieces. Is it the same with drums? Would we be better off picking parts individually so the kit can grow with him, or is a bundle genuinely fine for a beginner?

3. Specific recommendations

For e-drums I've been looking at the Alesis Nitro Max Kit Bundle. I haven't really looked at anything acoustic yet. If you were building either an e-drum or acoustic setup piece by piece in this price range, which brands would you actually trust?

Sorry for the wall of text. Really appreciate any pointers.
