My parents are 66 and 69. They have no money saved for retirement and do not have jobs. They sold their house nearly 2 years ago to get out from under some debt and start fresh in a new state. I don’t know the extent of how bad the debt was or how much money they have in the bank following the sale. They have been trying to find a new house in a different state and with their budget and wishlist it seems nearly impossible. The wishlist isn’t as much of an issue as the budget. They won’t even tell me what the budget is but I’m guessing it’s 150K. They have been living in their sprinter van for the last \~2 years with all of their belongings in storage (1k+/month) while they look for a house. They have not found a place they can afford that they are willing to live. I am an only child and I live thousands of miles away from them. I just don’t know what to do to help them figure this out. Looking for any advice on navigating this situation and dealing with the anxiety that it gives me.
