Like the title says, it looks like my local will be on strike soon. The main issue is wages, there's enough space between the offers to build a data center in.
The question I have is what should I expect while I am on the line? I volunteered as picket captain because I always try my best to help out my local. Has anyone been on strike lately (I'm on Canada, if that makes a difference). I would ask an old timer, but my local hasn't been on strike since 1983, and all the ones that were pay off that strike either retired or are no longer with us.
For added context, it's looking more and more every day that almost all the other construction trade unions will be on the line either with us, or joining us soon. Currently there are 3 other trades in a strike position. IUPAT, OE and UA. Our strike vote gets verified tomorrow, and we'll be in a legal strike position Monday. There are also pretty much all the other trades finalizing their strike votes in the next couple weeks, and no one is happy with the offers we're getting.
Any clues about what to expect would be greatly appreciated...
