Looking for an alternative to Mounjaro. I have Hashimoto’s, am pre diabetic, and suffer from major inflammation. I am 40f and Canadian.

My endocrinologist wrote a letter pleading with my insurance to cover it but alas it was denied in favour of Ozempic. The trouble is, I was on Ozempic for 5 years which did nothing in terms of weight loss and brought my a1c down 0.3. Apparently, that is enough of an improvement for them not to cover Mounjaro.

I have been on it since January, starting at 5mg and now at 10mg. Unfortunately, I have not lost a single pound despite food noise decreasing substantially as well as eating significantly less. I guess I am a non responder. However, Mounjaro has been a miracle drug with relieving inflammation. I had forgotten what is what like to live without pain.

Due to the cost and lack of weight loss, I too am struggling with what to do. Do I go back on free Ozempic and live in pain or continue with a higher, more expensive dose of Mounjaro. I am at a crossroads.

Do I try Zepbound even though it is technically the same medication or go back on Ozempic. I’ve seen discussions of “reta” but have no idea what that is.

I feel so lost and am really hating the way my body functions.
