I'm not sure Hybern is evil...

Edited to add: okay so I think we got the answer. I had to play a bit of the devil's advocate to flesh it out. The fact that SJM used the name Hybern makes me think she knows the history especially if the maps match like OP claims. I'm not sure SJM would do something so gross as to makes the irl oppressed the oppressors on purpose... at least I hope not. Readers pointed out that the kind of Hybern is not his name... obviously but for some reason I didn't think of it, lol. I think he may be the oppressor of the LAND of Hybern too. Now that he is dead, who is leading, do we know? Maybe SJM will come back to this.

I have not finished TOG. Im on hof. I also haven't touched CC yet. Please cover spoilers. Thank you!

... because of this below, the irl history. I'm not sure this is just a distasteful slip up on SJM's part but I could be wrong. Hybern seems clearly evil but I can't shake the feeling. THE WEAVER IS DEFINITELY EVIL!!! She's on the side of the NC. I know they had a deal but still. What does Hybern say he wanted to do with the humans?? Could he have been telling the truth?? Idk, read the post below and tell me what you think.

Tamlin Fanart

I think I made a post about this before but I'm a bit jealous. Does the Tam fandom have so few artists? I see many talented artists creating beautiful art of the other characters but so few for Tam despite his growing popularity. Am I just missing it?

Okay, so, I wanted to come here to you guys first because Tam's bargain with Hybern will seem pretty damning to anyone who hates Tam. We are the only ones going to understand that Tam was taking one step at a time. I decided to go back to like chapter 63. Somewhere in this mess with Hybern, Tam promises him that Feyre will work for him. We all know that Tam wasnt going to let that happen. Luc explains that later too but Tam haters wont care. Tamlin wasnt going to give into the bargain. He just wanted to free Feyre.

What's breaking my heart about this is that Tamlin was trying to put the curse back on himself. He would free Feyre and not let Hybern have her. He would take the consequences if he couldn't find a way out of the bargain in time 😭😭😭

I hate that Feyre waits to tell him anything until Hybern's. She humiliated him in front of everyone. Then Hybern makes fun of him because he didnt know (how could he have known). She shrinks back into Rhys with her pathetic "Im sorry." Yeah well it's a little late now. Rhys with his "at what cost?" None of your business mean girl leader. Him being crushed just like you planned from the beginning and Tamlin doesnt even care that he's going g to gloat.

They're at Hybern's. Mor looked at Azriel—and there was real fear there. Fear—and something else. She didn't stop moving until she again kneeled beside him and pressed a hand to his wound. Azriel hissed—but covered her bloody fingers with his own.

Last page of MAF 68. Rhys is using Elain and Lucs mating bond to his advantage. It was also Rhys destroying the spc through Feyre. After reading the scene at Hybern's, this has to be Feyre's villain origin story. It's so crazy how Rhys completely removes himself from fault for what happened at Hybern's. Hybern straight up blames him for the alliance he was able to make with the queens. What's also interesting is that Amren is like what the heck? Go get your mate. She's shocked that he isnt more protective over her but he diverts her attention to their new bargain. He loves Feyre but not more than his goals.

Edited to add: I just read chapter 68 through Rhysand's eyes. At the end of the chapter, he says he is going to help Feyre destroy the spc and find a way to use Luc. It's weird that he doesnt tell Amren the part the ic played in the sisters being turned. He puts the blame completely on Tam and Luc (everyone's a hero in their own story? Is is implied by mentioning the queens? Plothole?). Like explained below, Tamlin had nothing to do with the motive for turning the queens. We also see in further reading that Tam does not allow free passage to Hybern through the spc. Rhys is either wrong or lying. Hybern is not able to pass through the spc until Rhys and Feyre take down the spc. It's Rhys that destroys the spc through Feyre. This chapter seems to debunk Rhys using Feyre to produce an heir. He says she will not be used for breeding or child rearing in his internal dialog. I dont believed Rhys unless I can see it clearly in his internal dialog. Tamlin is going to think Rhys used her for an heir.

I am having so much fun reading through the scene at Hybern's. You could completely remove Tamlin from ever spying on Hybern and the entire thing would have still played out the same. Feyre wouldn't have had the first bargain removed but Rhys had security on her other arm so that's irrelevant. Actually, I could argue that Tamlin is the only reason Hybern was going to let the IC go. This is the second time (out of three) that Rhysand's life was in Tam's hands. All three times, Tam has spared it. Of course Hybern may have been lying. Would he let Rhys go knowing he had the book??

The king wanted an alliance with the queens. Feyre remembers one of the queens speaking of her immortality at the meeting. They want to be like Feyre. The king blames Rhys for going after the book. He said he was going to leave the book. Jurien agreed to work with Hybern when he saw that Rhys was going for it. Jurien told the queens that the nc was going to come to them pretending and showing them good. When Az tried to infiltrate the queens sacred place, they were convinced that Jurien was telling the truth. The IC secured Hybern's alliance with the queens.

None of this has anything to do with Tamlin at all, lol. He had nothing to do with the sisters. Ianthe gave the names of the sisters and was involved, of course, like we all already knew but the info would have been irrelevant if Feyre hadn't interfered like the suriel said. The queens wouldn't have wanted test subjects. Feyre pleaded with the queens not to change her sisters but they deny her calling her a liar and a theif.

Feyre bursts through Hyberns wards like she's the savior of the day with her little act. She's not. Her breaking the wards allowed the IC to take her sisters but her sisters would have been safe with Tam. Hybern was going to let the IC go already... maybe... he said he was.

Whose voice is she hearing telling her to kill him?? She wonders if it's hers or the cauldrons... what if it's niether... and whose him? Hybern? Tamlin? Someone else?

Tam thinks that Feyre has been abducted, mind contolled, and abused this entire time. He probably doesnt think too highly of mating bonds based on his previous experience. Then he sees that Feyre is mated to her abuser. He actually questions it, he looks at Rhys and is like "what did you do to her?" Im not sure he's quite convinced but even if he is, the love of his life is mated to her abuser.

This is a side note for me and happens after Hybern:

Why does Feyre steal Tam's bandilor? Is it powerful. Does Rhys or whoever Rhys is working for want it? Or is she just trying to be annoying? I've always wondered if Feyre was deamati'd right before and during her attack on spring.

Why does Feyre resort to violence, deception, and thievery instead of diplomatic conversation... is it because of Rhys or is this just who she is now?

Does anyone else feel like reading ch 63 through 67... maybe the rest of the book? MAF

We should probably pay attention to what the king of hybern says too. "Then to let you monsters RULE and attack," when referring to the NC having the book of breathings. "What a mighty queen you are" referring to Mor. He also points out how violent the NC is particularly Feyre at this moment (I think this is for the readers). This is just what I saw when rereading the sister's being turned.

Legend has it that the beast doesn't even remember his fae form. Does anyone know the exact text?

How nice of Rhysand to spend so much time at the spc "helping" Tamlin.

Edited to add: Rhys is NOT helping Tamlin during his visits. He's doing something nefarious.

Rhysand calls Tamlin the golden prince. Tam's voice actor calls him king. Amarantha wanted Tamlin and she declared herself HQ. The suriel says that he will set all things right and I dont think he means Rhys. One of the biggest reasons this came to mind is that I strongly believe Rhys wants to be HK. He also seems to be trying to take Tamlin's place in every aspect. He took Feyre as his wife. Luc was Tam's emissary but is now Rhysand's emissary. Amarantha wanted Tamlin as a lover. Rhys used his deamati powers to make Amarantha "crave" him as a lover. He also repeats some of the things we first hear from Tam that makes him look good like " I dont enforce rank in my court." What is Rhysand doing at the spc?? Because he IS NOT helping Tamlin that's for certain and also why it's off page. Feyre remembers utm as her and Rhysand defeating Amarantha together instead of her and Tamlin; this might be a false memory put there by Rhys so he can take Tam's place as the hero (I think Rhys plays the part of false hero). My mind might change later today about Tam being king but right now I think Tam's the rightful heir to some kingdom... probably the position of HK.
