San Martin SNO121T - Sent with ST2130?
NEWER COLLECTOR - Please be nice, as I don't know everything yet.
I bought a watchidives+SM blue SNO121T titanium with the proffered grade 5 titanium case and grade 2 bracelet. The ads basically said that they would have a "grab bag" movement because of a "trade war". I was expecting, at least, an NH35 movement as the top priority, and possibly a PT5000 as a second choice. I was told this morning that they will be shipping it with an ST2130 movement. This is certainly not the movement that I would have asked for. Perhaps I might be overreacting, but this is one of the more expensive watches in the segment, so I was thinking that the NH35 would have been a minimum, with the PT5000 as a much-less-desirable second choice movement.
Is there anyone with long-term experience with the ST2130? I've heard it's an ETA 2824 clone. If it should "go out", can the ETA 2824 be swapped in by someone with some experience swapping movements? Is there any architecture differences that a hobbyist would not be able to handle? I suppose that I'll learn to live with it, but I was just disappointed that I was going to get a backup's backup movement, straight from San Martin.
I had just learned to be "ok" with the concept of the PT5000 movement in recent days. If anyone has gotten any experience with this, I'd appreciate it. I'm new to Chinese watches, so I know some of the popular terms and basic watch anatomy. I'm certainly not the enthusiast like many are here. Just hoping to solicit some insight.
