Beyond The Album - NMIXX's Serenade

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Hey everyone, today NMIXX is back with a new mini album, the follow-up to the group's great studio album, Blue Valentine, released in 2025. I’ve been excited to see what the group will be bringing to the table. I have a feeling NMIXX is going to release another smash album, because I love most of the group's songs, except for two of them, O.O. and Tic Toc. Now let’s not waste any time and jump into the album and see what is brought to the table.

┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

Heavy Serenade - NMIXX

  1. Crescendo

The opening song on the album was pre-released 13 days ago as a music video, which I didn’t check out at all. I love the vibe the production brings to the table, as it brings in this synth groove that fits perfectly with the group's vocals. The harmonies that the members do are excellent, adding to the smooth nature of the instrumental. The hook has a thumping vibe to it that pulled me right in during my first listen. I love the twists and turns this instrumental delivers as it flows perfectly into each other. Crescendo is a terrific opener for the project as it did a great job pulling me right into the track and never failing to keep me engaged with what was going on.

2. Heavy Serenade

Synths open up the track, bringing in a smooth, soft vibe. The electronic elements come into the mix. The vocals hit hard during the verses and keep the momentum during the chorus, which keeps pulling me back for more. It did take me a few listens to get into the chorus, but after hearing it more, I started to like it. The rapping during the second verse is decent, working with the vibe the instrumental is bringing to the table. The bridge is excellent, pulling everything together before the chorus explodes again with excellent high notes from the members. I still find this to be a title track that will be growing on me the more I hear it.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. IDESERVEIT

The third song on the album is my favorite track on the project, as it impressed me during my first listen and has never failed to keep me coming back for more. I love the groove that the instrumental brings to the table, which keeps popping up in my head. The pre-chorus hits hard before the best part of the song comes into play. The groove that the chorus brings to the table is my favorite section, as that’s the moment that keeps bringing me back  for more. The whisper-like singing in the second verse blends wonderfully with the synths in the background. I will mention that they added some vocal effects to the singing during the hook section. The more I hear the chorus, the more it keeps getting stuck in my head, and I have a feeling this will be my most-played song from the album.

https://preview.redd.it/sua2gn0asj0h1.jpg?width=4543&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f27fa13032760e552f72d04f4b7076dd782776b8

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Different Girl

Different Girl isn’t a bad song, but it sounds a bit average with its R&B-trap sound. I like the performance the members bring to the table, blending with the high hats, but it feels like the vibe is lacking in flavor. The chorus does have a groove that I like, but the instrumental during that section doesn’t pop as much as some of the group's other music. I still think Different Girl is a high-quality produced song, but it just sounds a bit average to me, which pulls the tune down a bit. I can still listen to this track, but it’s not one of my favorites on the record.

https://preview.redd.it/uo2aazlcsj0h1.jpg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3d3ae7b106cf24e227c334eb9e18e4024ca17ea

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Superior

Thumping and snare drums open up the track, bringing in a grand movie feeling. The vocals hit hard, blending with the electronic vibe the instrumental brings to the table. The chorus comes crashing in to the mix after the pre-chorus that sets everything up. The hook is packed and is something that will be pulling me back for more, but I will say the verses are the highlight of this tune. The group's performance is strong, as I would love to see them perform this one live. I love it when NMIXX delivers these thumping pop tunes, as they tend to become some of my favorites.

https://preview.redd.it/gc833ikgsj0h1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f179f74cf5108e627b41ff9c4e93cd0b3a2250b1

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

6. LOUD

LOUD does a great job ending the project with an excellent pop tune. The thump of the synth in verse 1 sets everything up as it pulls me right into the mix. The chorus is where everything explodes, as it made this tune click with me. I love the vocals during the hook as they come in with so much power. The second verse has this Baltimore club thumping vibe to it, which adds to the overall groove the track delivers. The more I hear LOUD, the more I love it than the previous listen. I find LOUD to be a great closer for this project and one that makes me want to replay the album.

https://preview.redd.it/qu85h2gjsj0h1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cfd0f358af172efe666c6cc2273ffe8ee056771

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Summary: NMIXX is back with an album that has been growing on me with each listen as I’ve been replaying this project a lot. Vocals are on point as they bring each track to life and help them get stuck in my head. IDESERVEIT is my favorite song on the album, as it pulled me right in during my first listen and kept my attention throughout. Different Girl is my least favorite on the album, but one I can still listen to. I just found the vibe and instrumental to have this average vibe that didn’t click as the rest of the project did. I’m glad NMIXX is back with new music cause they never fail to put out great music.

Into The Music S10 Episode 17 - Nayeon's Music Workshop

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a good week. My week was pretty good, as the days were cooler but still enjoyable. One thing I’ve been doing over the past couple of weeks is replaying some old GameCube games, which has been a nice switch-up from the PS5 games. I’ve also been having the recent Trade L album on repeat since it was released near the end of April. Now let’s jump into the music and see what the artists have released this week.

괜찮아 사랑이니까 - Nayeon

Nayeon takes over my week with a brand new OST one that I’ve been excited to hear since it was announced. The instrumental goes for this sweet vibe that blends fantastically with the vocals. I love the performance from Nayeon as it puts a smile on my face. The instrumental has a bit of a bouncy vibe to it that helps bring this tune to life, fitting the singer's vibe. The hook has been getting stuck in my head since it was released, as it keeps pulling me back. It’s always been a joy to hear new music from Nayeon in anyfrom and this OST is one that I know will be on repeat for me.

PALETTE - SHUSHU9

R&B singer SHUSHU9 is back with a new single. Last time I heard SHUSHU9 was in 2025, and it feels like a long time since she released music. A keyboard opens up the track, bringing an R&B vibe that blends with the sweet vocals from ShuShu. ShuShu has this cute-sounding voice, but one that blends wonderfully with the groovy R&B instrumental. I love the synths sprinkled throughout the song, giving it a magical vibe at times. As I was listening to this track, I thought a rapper would fit perfectly if they added a feature to this tune, but either way, this song still slaps, no matter what they did with it. SHUSHU9 is back with a new single that works wonderfully for her and makes me wish for an album from the singer.

웃으며 안녕 (Recorded in 2016) (Prod.진영) - I.O.I.

I.O.I. is back with a pre-release single for their upcoming album. It’s been years since we got music from the artist, but now we are getting new music. One cool thing about this pre-release is that they recorded it in 2016, and finally, they released it in 2026. Jinyoung of B1A4 writes and produces this track for I.O.i. A piano melody opens up the song, bringing in a nostalgic vibe that pulls me right in. I felt myself tearing up a bit since it’s been a long time hearing these girls sing together. A lot of my favorite vocalists and people in Kpop came from I.O.I. The strings add to the emotion that the members bring to the table. The rap section was smoothly packed with emotion and fit the overall vibe. I’m so glad I.O.I. is back with new music, but at the same time, it feels like a dream.

2 Easy 2 Be HONE2T - Lee HI

Lee Hi is back with a single album that delivers two new tracks, which I’ve been excited about. HONE2T is the first song on the single, opening up with a piano melody that pulls me right into the mix. We get vocal effects on Lee Hi’s voice, which caught me off guard, as I don’t think the singer needs vocal effects. I do like the vibe of HONE2T, but the vocal effects are not making me like the track much. 2 Easy is the second, which opens with a piano melody. Lee Hi’s voice sounds much better on the second song as there aren’t any vocal effects on her voice, which I like way better. I will say this single album is a decent one that could’ve been a little better, but I’m still glad we got new music from the singer.

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great final week of April. My week was pretty good, as a lot of excellent releases came out that kept popping up on my playlist. One thing I have been replaying like crazy is the newest project from Trade L, who just joined a new company and released a new album that kept popping up on my playlist this week. I’m excited to see what May will be bringing to the table, so let’s jump into the music and see what's been released.

Best of the Week:

aurora - Trade L

My Favorite rapper, Trade L, returned with a new album under Ambition, which he recently joined. I’ve been enjoying the project from its vibey production to the performances the artist brings to the table. Sik-k features on Incense as he delivers an excellent verse that blends with the song's vibe. I love the piano melody of " Incense " as Trade L fits perfectly with the overall vibe. We do get two Lellamarz features on the album that both slaps and fit well with the overall vibe. I find the smooth production something that fits wonderfully with the artist, as that’s one thing I like about Trade L’s music. Trade L continues to deliver high-quality music that keeps pulling me back for more. I’m excited to see where his journey goes now since he joined Ambition.

Korean Releases of the Week:

April 29th

첫사랑은 저주다 - Yuju

Yuju is back with a brand new single, featuring an indie-pop-rock sound. I love the funky guitars that bring this track to life, even if it’s a little too short for my liking. Yuju’s softer tone blends wonderfully with the melody that has been pulling back a few times this week. The hook hits hard as the guitars and percussion blend together, crafting the perfect chorus. During the second verse, we get this slick bass guitar that adds to the vibe and might be my favorite section of the track. Even with its 2:42 runtime, I still think it could’ve been a little longer, as it packs a punch in its runtime.

I Love You I Love You too (SOOBIN & TAEHYUN ) - TXT

Soobin and Taehyun of TXT have released an OST together, one that I’ve been enjoying. Guitars and percussion open up the song, bringing in a sweet spring vibe that blends with the singer's voice. The hook is a pretty chill one as it blends with the singers who put on a great performance, bringing this tune to life. Soobin and Taehyun work well together on this OST that I’ve heard a couple of times this week. I find the relaxing nature fitting for the singer’s voice as it lets the vocals shine even more. I’m always excited to hear the OST from Idols as it gives them a chance to let their voices shine more.

Non-Korean Releases of the Week:

Shape of a Woman/Glamorous Life - Lady Gaga

Back in the early part of April, Lady Gaga teamed up with Doechii for a track from Devil's Wear Prada 2. Now Gaga is back with two more songs from the new movie, which I didn’t expect. Shape of a Woman is the first new track, bringing in a dance-pop vibe. I like the instrumentation that blends with the vocals, but the chorus sounds a bit weak. I don’t fully love this new song, but I like the funky dance-pop elements that blend with Gaga. Glamorous Life is the second new song from the singer, and one I’m enjoying more. The hook is much stronger than " Shape of a Woman as the guitars come crashing in, fitting with the singer's performance. I like the almost rock nature that Glamorous Life brings to the table, working with the performance that pulled me right in. I’m glad we are getting more music from Gaga, but I find that Glamorous Life is the strongest thing she has done for this new music.

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Hey everyone, today ILLIT is back with a new mini album. The last time we saw ILLIT with a Korean mini album was in June of 2025. Now, it’s 2026, and the group is back with their fourth Korean mini-album. I’ve been enjoying the group's music since their debut, as it’s never failed to get stuck in my head. I’m curious to see what type of sound the group will be bringing to the table with this new album. Now let’s jump into the record and see what the group delivered.

┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

https://preview.redd.it/3ge5sydj6byg1.jpg?width=3199&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db399222919ce00c7012d89552991fa751a952ac

MAMIHLAPINATAPAI - ILLIT

  1. GRWM (Get Ready With Me)

The opening song on the album opens with synths and sweet vocals from the members. The bouncy drum and bass sound fit perfectly with the almost whisper-like vocals that are delivered to the table. I do like the little sound effects that the instrumental delivers, as it fits with the overall vibe. The hook is pretty good, as it didn’t even know it came on at first, since it blended so well with the rest of the song. I also love the synth solo during the final moments of the track, which is a nice switch-up. I find that the members put on a great performance, helping to open this project in an excellent way.

https://preview.redd.it/6qa06edr6byg1.jpg?width=275&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=680a4b6ebb8029b8bc9902d69aaf736450f0efb7

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. It’s Me

The title track of the album is the shortest song on the project, coming in at 2:18, which feels like what a lot of title tracks have been doing these days. The instrumental goes for this experimental hard style vibe that I didn’t expect from the group, but it hits hard. The sweet vocals give the tune a cute vibe that fits perfectly. I can tell that this hook is going to get stuck in my head since it’s so repetitive. The drop after the chorus hits hard before we move into the second verse. I do enjoy the melody that the synths deliver to the table, adding to the overall vibe that the producers crafted. I do wish the hard style hook and drop went even harder.

https://preview.redd.it/4dhq1fn07byg1.jpg?width=194&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c80e1c7ad6facbc3b4083000e4ea997b69fe32c

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. paw, paw!

Vocals open up the track as they have vocal effects added to them, blending with the synth-pop vibe. The instrumental goes for this bouncy trance-sounding EDM beat that fits the performance wonderfully. The pre-chorus does an excellent job transitioning into the sweet glitchy hook. I love the bouncy nature of the chorus, as I have a feeling it will get stuck in my head. We do get an atmospheric section of the track that pulls me right into the mix. I do feel that this tune could’ve been a little longer cause the instrumental is pretty good.

https://preview.redd.it/lkaybcx87byg1.jpg?width=194&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=645f1bf1d2d9e9847ff56b3849e635623dfeba65

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Mamihlapinatapai

The fourth song on the album, called Mamihlapinatapai, is the longest track on the project, coming in at 3:01, which is nice to see. 80s sounding synth and drums open up the track, bringing in a retro vibe. We do get some talking vocals that fit with the instrumental, but sound a little weird to me. The chorus comes crashing in with the retro sound that pulls me right into the track. When the members are singing, they sound fantastic, fitting the vibe of the song. The bridge has some echo effects on the vocals that add to the vibe the drum machine has been crafting. I’m falling in love with this reto sound for the group as it works wonderfully for them.

https://preview.redd.it/3w8l4j6d7byg1.jpg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f10940a6bbc7d5f7b482d53fdba635a2a56f22b4

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Love, older you

The closing song on the project brings in a guitar with a bit of a synth vibe. The track goes for a more mellow vibe with the vocals having this lo-fi effect on them, which blends with the instrumental. I love the sweet nature the song brings to the table, switching things up from what the rest of the project brought to the table. I also love the emotion you can hear from the vocals, as it fits with the piano melody. The acoustic bridge and outro hit hard as it helps close out the album wonderfully.

https://preview.redd.it/ev92tnui7byg1.jpg?width=2500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=87c0c81067ea89ecd86ac348553dc29c16797a55

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Summary: ILLIT is back with a new mini album, one that has a lot of great songs on it, but one thing I will say is that some of them could’ve been longer. It feels like a lot of times in music recently, a lot of songs have to be super short cause humans don’t have the attention span to listen for 3 minutes or more. I still find these songs enjoyable, like the title track, which brought in a hard style vibe, as I wish it went a little harder. I’m excited to watch this album grow on me over May.

Hey everyone, it’s time for me to share with you what's been happening with the Korean releases and the non-Korean releases. April was a pretty good month for music, as many tracks have been on repeat, never failing to uplift this month. One thing that happened this month was that In Your Radent Season came to a close, a fantastic drama that kept me on the edge of my seat. I also started the Perfect Crown this month, and it’s been a great watch since it’s my first IU drama. Now let’s jump into the month and see what took over.

  • Go On -KiiiKiii
  • Know About Me - Lee Chae Yeon

Song: Rise High Rise

Rise High Rise might be the hardest track on the recent album from Xdinary Heroes, as the vocals sound like they are yelling and screaming over this chugging instrumental that pulled me right into the track since it was released. Rise High Rise is also the second English track on the project that hits hard with the melody sounding instrumental. I do wish we got some screaming moments to blend with the yelling in the chorus. The fast-paced nature of the instrumental is something that the band does well. I was surprised with this tune the first time hearing it cause I didn’t expect a track from the band with the vocals almost sounding like they were screaming. I didn’t expect my April to get taken over by my Xdinary Heroes for a song, but here we are talking about it.

Honorable Mentions Albums:

  • Till I Die - Lee Chae Yeon
  • aurora - Trade L
  • Dead And - Xdinary Heroes
  • Morning Glory - Touch the Sky

Album: My First Kick - Kickflip

JYP's  Boy Group, Kickflip, who debuted in 2025, released a new mini album that I’ve been obsessed with in April.. It didn’t take me long to be obsessed with all the songs in the project and knowing it would take over my April. One thing I love about Kickflip is when they go for that pop-punk type sound that pulls me right into the music. Eyes-poppin’ is the title track, pulling me right in with the pop-punk sound that fits the group wonderfully. Twenty was the pre-release single that got me excited for what this album would bring to the table. I love the hook of Twenty as it’s been stuck in my head like crazy. My Direction closes out the album in a perfect way, making it one of my favorite tracks. Kickflip has returned with a new album that has been on repeat and will be on repeat for the rest of the year.

Album: Dandelion - Ella Langely

Ella Langley takes over my month with her recent album Dandelion. The final song she pre-released. was Loving Life Again, one that clicked with me quickly. My favorite section of the song is where she talks about grandma, and you can hear a little whoo-ho in the background, like grandma is calling.I wanted to mention that I noticed that some of the tracks have a poppy nature to them, leaning more into the Country-pop sound. We Know Us goes for that country-pop sound, but still fits Ella’s vocals. I love how tropical We Know Us sounds, which surprised me the first time hearing it. You & Me Time has been on repeat for me from the slick instrumentation that wraps around Ella’s voice, smoothly crafting a melody that keeps pulling me back. It was cool to hear Miranda’s vocals in the background of You & Me Time. Speaking Terms is a track about Ella’s faith, and I love hearing artists talk about their faith. I will say as much as I enjoy that track, I feel like I’ve heard more interesting faith-based country. Ella delivers a fantastic cover of Kitty Wells’ It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels. I love how she made the cover simple and didn’t try to reinvent it into something it wasn’t. Ella and Miranda sing together on Butterfly Season a tender duet that worked perfectly on the album. Even though I’m not the biggest Miranda Lambert fan, I still enjoyed her vocals with Ella’s. I do think some of the songs sound a little overproduced, but the instrumentals still work with the vocals from Ella. I will also say the production and lyrics are a bit of a step up from what Hangover brought to the table. I will say a lot of the songs on this project have been pulling me back for more, from the smooth instrumentation to the slick vocals Ella brings to the table. I still can’t believe this has been my favorite non-Korean album in April.

╔════ ✿ ❀ ღღ ✿ ❀ ════╗

Hey everyone, today Lee Chae Yeon is back with a new mini album under a new label after leaving WM earlier this month. Her last mini-album was released in 2024, titled Showdown, a project I remember having on repeat. I have enjoyed all the music the singer has been releasing, as it really suits her voice. I’m curious what her new album will bring to the table and what this new label has in store for her career. Now let’s jump into this new record and see what Chae Yeon has in store for us.

Till I Die - Lee Chae Yeon

  1. Know About Me

The opening song on the project reminds me of 2000s BoA music, which surprised me during my first listen. From the acoustic guitar and synths, the BoA sound is alive in this tune. Chae Yeon delivers sweet vocals that blend wonderfully with the vibe that the producers crafted. The hook has been stuck in my head like crazy today as I’ve been replaying it in my brain a lot. I love the funky nature of the instrumental as it blends perfectly with the singer's performance. The bridge has a bouncy vibe that works with the instrumental and the artist's singing. Know About Me opens up the project wonderfully and might become one of my favorites on the album.

  1. No Tears On The Dancefloor

The title track of the record goes for this dance-pop sound with its dramatic strings that helped to pull me right into the tune. The vocals from Chae Yeon are fantastic, blending with the dance-pop sound that the producers crafted. I love the funky vibe the instrumental delivers as it’s something that works for the singer's performance. As much as I love the chorus, I feel like something is missing a bit to make that section stronger. I would’ve loved an instrumental break where we get to hear the strings do a crescendo as they mix with the dance-pop vibe. Only coming in at 2:30 seconds, I see a lot of stuff they could’ve done to make it longer. Even though No Tears On The Dancefloor doesn’t tread new ground, I still find it to be a great title track from the artist.

  1. I’m Waiting

I’m Waiting is the longest song on the album and one that opens with  Synths, which I didn’t like at first, but they have been growing on me. The bouncy-pop sound works perfectly as the artist delivers some smooth vocals. In the pre-chorus, we get a synth explosion that moves wonderfully into the chorus, which has an 80s vibe to it. I do love how funky this tune is, but it feels a little average. I’m not upset about it at all, as the artist puts on an excellent performance to keep me engaged.

  1. Bad

The fourth song Bad is the other track on the album that gave me BoA vibes, which pulled me in right away. The slick and funky instrumental sounds just like something BoA could sing over. The bass guitar is fantastic, blending with the slick nature of the instrumental. Chae adds her sweet voice to the track that kept me coming back for more. The pre-chorus has these fake horn effects that transition into the hook perfectly. The chorus has been growing on me with each listen as I’ve been listening to this tune a lot today. The bridge is another favorite section of mine, which acts as a dance break that I’ve been enjoying a lot. Bad has been growing on me over my day, and it’s becoming one of my favorites.

  1. How are you

How Are You closes out the album with a more chill and vibey instrumental. I love the acoustic guitar that you can hear throughout the instrumental, as it’s something that helps keep the groove. The acoustic pre-chorus is excellent, as that section has become my favorite. We do get a little bit of vocal effects in the chorus that keeps that chill vibe from the verses. As I’m listening to this tune, I feel a bit relaxed as the synths blend with the guitar, helping to create a chill vibe. I find that How Are You does a great job closing out the album and another one I’ve been enjoying a lot.

╔════ ✿ ❀ ღღ ✿ ❀ ════╗

Summary: Chae Yeon is back with a new mini album under a new label that is packed with some fantastic tracks. Know About Me & Bad give off BoA vibes, which I didn’t expect at all. No Tears On The Dancefloor is a great title track, but a song that I felt like could’ve added a few things to make it stand out and become a little longer. How Are You closes out the project with a chill sound that works with the singer's voice. I find this new mini-album to be a great return for the singer, and I’m glad she has returned with new music.
