There's nothing wrong with top grade Sellita movements under a certain price point, but Sinn is pushing into levels where it's difficult to justify. An EZM 3 on bracelet is currently $2,740 via WatchBuys. The U50 on bracelet is $3,440 ($4,030 if you go full teg)!

By contrast, the new Longines HydroConquest is $2200 on bracelet, and it has the L888.5, which is a heavily modified ETA movement that has a silicon hairspring and free sprung balance. Also, the power reserve is 72 hours. By all accounts, these things are very, very accurate.

I'm a huge Sinn fan. I've owned and loved several of them, and My U50 SDR (full teg) is currently my most worn watch by far. Unfortunately, I believe Sinn needs to make a move to stay competitive into the future.

What would I love to see? I'd love to see them work with La Joux-Perret or Sellita's AMT division to develop a Sinn-specific movement, something that, like the L888.5, is based on an existing architecture but incorporates things like a higher power reserve and a silicon hairspring. It doesn't need fancy decoration (imo that's not really Sinn's identity), but it needs better accuracy, a longer power reserve, and beefed up antimagnetism. To me, this issue is similar to the recent introduction of the microadjustable clasp. Sinn saw that they were falling behind and made a move. Hoping they do something similar with movements!

EDIT: As jfess930 pointed out in the comments, this post is written from a US perspective. In other parts of the world, the value prop may be much stronger.
