Hey guys! I am a clinical educator and respiratory therapy consultant for long term care facilities. I'm often called to consult on my opinion about downsizing and decannulation of tracheostomy tubes. I've been a respiratory therapist since 1999 so of course I grew up on Shiley legacy tubes and the last 5 years or so became familiar with the Shiley flexible. Medtronic is now discontinuing both trach tubes and only keeping the XLT types in production. Once their stock is out it's out from what I can tell. So what tracheostomy tube types are you guys seeing clinically? I need input and info to determine types of tubes I will start recommending.
