I went on a gokarma trip from May 1-3, from Bangalore. About 590 kms one way. We decided to skip half of the highway route and go via Jog Falls. We decides to start early at 4 am from Bangalore, to beat the heat, but in the morning itself, my friend had a puncture, and ended up calling a few puncture repair guys, and when we finally got a person, it was 5:30 already.
So, on the way after breakfast, heat started getting pretty bad, and it was very difficult. We had to take multiple breaks to escape the heat.
I drank four half a liter bottles of 500ml water, a diet coke can, and 2 coffee, and when we finally reached our stay at night, I didn't have to pee. The dehydration was real, and im sure all those water from my body escaped as sweat and some of it basically evaporated off. We immediately went to gey some beers after a shower.
So, while coming back, we decided to start at night itself. And near Kumta, we decided to fuel up, but 2 petrol stations were empty, and the 3rd one had a long queue. Andthe route we took was the Kumta-Siddapur road, which was going through some foresty area, couldn't fuel up for a while; and at this point, my friend's XPulse 210 was riding on fumes. Like literally; he shook the motorcycle to check the fuel, and there was hardly any splashing sound from the tank. Luckily we found a guy selling petrol in black in the village, and he had 10 liters, and was more than enough for us to reach the AH47 highway. I took the Bangalore&oq from the Nice road to reach my place at Electronic city, around 7 AM.
Lessons learned:
Don't do long-distance rides when India has 95/100 hottest cities in the world.
Don't start a trip the night before a fuel rate hike is expected.
