I had my original injury on 4/27/24 - fell down one crumbling step and next thing I know I have an open lisfranc injury and I’m signing amputation paperwork just in case they can’t get the bloodflow back.

Fast forward two years and here we are.

I see a lot of questions on here about hiking or sports again, and I’m here with a little bit of unconventional light at the end of that tunnel.

I don’t do any of that kind of stuff. I don’t really care for it. What I do, however, is work at a residential treatment facility for troubled teen boys. What does that have to do with hiking you ask? Well lemme tell ya.

I work 16hr days often - I’m on my feet for 14 of those. I work on the third floor. I do not have an elevator key. According to my Apple Watch I average 15 flights of stairs every day. I’ve seen it as many as 37 flights. I’m constantly walking, going up and down the stairs, standing, redirecting, restraining … you name it I’m going it. Shoot I even played basketball the other day with the boys.

Does it hurt? Sure does. The weather is a huge factor in that as well. I have arthritis now (love that), but I can do a lot more than I thought I’d be able to do.

So what I’m saying is, while my light may not be quite what you’re looking for, it’s similar and still a light.

I’m my out of shape self can run after teenagers and be on my feet for 14hrs without too much trouble, I believe you can get to where you want to be too.

Trust yourselves and your healing. You’ve got this!

(As a side note, the gross pictures are on my profile if you wanna see them)
