Traffic in Algiers is destroying my mental health + all these new buildings and crazy motorcyclists

Hey everyone,
I just need to vent…The traffic in the capital has become unbearable. Every single day I lose hours stuck in the car, arriving stressed and exhausted everywhere I go and It keeps getting worse…
On top of the normal jams there are new residential buildings and apartment blocks popping up literally everywhere. Huge construction sites appear out of nowhere creating even more detours, dust, noise and blocked roads…It’s messing with daily life for everyone
What I don’t understand is how they’re building so many at the same time and who is buying these apartments? They’re super expensive. Sometimes I wonder where all this money is coming from… is it clean money or is there something shady behind it? I don’t know but it feels weird

And then there are the motorcycles… I’m scared of them and scared for them at the same time. I see a lot of delivery guys using them which is ok but there are others who are completely reckless! They cut in front of cars, ride way too close, zigzag between vehicles& many of them look like they’re on drugs with red eyes, no papers and driving like maniacs

I was even involved in an accident with one. The guy tried to squeeze between two cars in the traffic jam, got stuck and hit both cars pretty badly (dented and deformed them). Luckily it was dense traffic so he wasn’t speeding and he came out fine but it was so stupid of him with no papers, eyes all red… This kind of thing happens way too often…

All of this makes living in Algiers extremely stressful and even the bus doesn’t help because it gets stuck in the same traffic

The real solution would be to build a proper subway network everywhere and not just one line. If people could move around easily without cars traffic would improve a lot and life would be less tiring

Am I the only one feeling this? How do you deal with the daily traffic in the capital? What do you think about all the new buildings and the motorcyclists?

Tldr : Traffic is hell, buildings multiplying everywhere at crazy prices, reckless motorcyclists everywhere (some clearly on drugs)and the whole capital feels way too stressful

I’ve been tracking the news of the Global Sumud Flotilla interception that happened yesterday in international waters

Looking at the maps being shared by the Maghreb Sumud Organization (see attached), there are mobilization markers all over Europe, Tunisia, and even North America. There are massive protests happening in front of landmarks like the Colosseum in Rome (fifth slide) and across various world capitals

The most frustrating part? The Maghreb Sumud Flotilla actually includes Algerian activists our own people who were on those boats carrying food and baby formula.

Why is it that when our own nationals are "kidnapped" in international waters while trying to break a siege, we don't see any movement on the streets of Algiers? Are we so restricted by the ban on public assembly that we can’t even stand up for our own citizens?

Is the only way for us to show solidarity now through a screen? I want to hear your thoughts on why the response in Algeria feels so muted compared to the rest of the world right now
