Hi guys,
So mostly just looking for some advice/encouragement as i’ve reached the point where my upcoming VS is impending and i’m starting to experience bone chilling torture out of fear of not converting compounded by my broader situation.
The following dilemma: I’ve got an exam mid vac scheme that i have to travel out of town for (think 6-8 hours). The exam is not one i can move, and if i were to miss it for any reason (ie train delay, flight cancellations, i wouldn’t get my degree (im doing an integrated degree) and correspondingly not get a TC. Thankfully, the exam itself is on a public holiday day, but its in the morning meaning id have to travel the night before in order to make it. Though i could leave after the scheme day ends, i would be barely catching the last connection and would seriously risk not making it at all. I was trying to avoid having to tell the firm ill have to leave early that one day but i fear that i might have to ask to leave 2-3 hours earlier so i have a buffer commute available because this exam is so decisive for my degree.
The VS is at my absolute dream firm, and from what i know from their trainees is that the conversion rates are pretty high. However, it has taken my literal life out of me to apply to these while having uninterrupted uni every single day for 8-10 hours and working part time to sustain myself. I understand that not converting is normal and it happens, but i want to absolutely maximize my chances because doing this again and maybe not even ending up at this firm would be unfortunate at the very least
Any advice on the exam situation? Would it be very looked down upon to ask to leave a few hours earlier? Or do i risk it and assume the commute will be fine?
