[Canada] Drone Usage in Vancouver Area

I am an out of province student that came to BC for a 4 month co-op. I live in Burnaby without a car, and wanted to buy a drone for my passion of videography and simply record BC's beautiful nature. I am currently looking at the DJI Neo 2 (161 grams) which is considered a microdrone.

This is where the problem arises as I have been on the internet looking for places to fly my drone for the past 4-5 days and there are so many mixed answers. A simple search on reddit or facebook for where I can fly my drone gives me many spots such as Quarry Rock or Cypress Overlook. I am also interested in flying in Burnaby Lake Regional Park and Deer Lake Park.

I have no idea on who to trust/what source to trust for this. On NAV Canada, it tells me I can fly in a lot of places except for the circles (image attached). Next on https://nrc.canada.ca/en/drone-tool-2/, there is very similar coverage of where I cannot fly a drone/have to be careful (image attached).

Yet, whenever I zoom in, look at a spot and search up that area with 'are drones allowed' it says no every single time. Could you guys give any advice on how I can find places to fly my drone (cannot be super far Crown land as I have no car). I also heard that you can take off from a sidewalk and fly into the park (can someone validate this). And most importantly, can anyone recommend great spots that they have been to?
