With the new loan change and many students going towards private loans how will this play out with residency?

Are residencies going to be more competitive? Will certain specialities like oral pathology, radiology, medicine shut down because students aren't applying for this positions? My understanding is oral pathology, radiology, and medicine are not sought after because the job market for these specialities are low or they make the same as a general dentist.

Specialities like OMFS seem to be more popular and will this mean harder to get into these programs?
