I noticed this ring of stripey splotches in my water bottle. now, admittedly there was probably some tea left in there for a bit too long and there *was* mold. i cleaned that up easily. but these spots remain. i've tried various methods of cleaning such as scrubbing with dish soap, vinegar, dishwasher (i'm not joking you probably 7 times through the dishwasher) and they just don't go away. i'm not sure what this is, and i'd rather not drink out of it unless i know it's safe. worst case i toss it out and get a new one. not asking for an ID but i'm curious as to what is could be. can mold stain?
