Idol departures that ended up being for the best? (whether for the group, the idol, or both)

For me, it’s Yedam leaving treasure.

treasure is a solid group, but back then i always felt like they lacked a clear identity in the 4th gen bg scene… still tho they had some cute bops and i’d check out their releases here and there mostly cuz i LOVED yedam’s voice (saw clips of his old covers on kpop star & stray kids-treasure survival show) and wanted to see what he was up to. kinda always wished he got more songs that really showed off his strengths more like in the direction of his songs he made on soundcloud.

so when he left the group, the statement was vague and i felt bad for fans, but lowkey i saw it coming. fast forward to 2026 and it’s pretty obvious that is was due to musical differences.

anyways, looking back, im glad he left. his talent probably would’ve been wasted if he still stayed at YG. ik he didn’t really blow up or anything; just glad he’s able to put out music that he likes. also,

it seems like treasure is still going strong, so it do rlly feel like a win-win situation.

for the ppl that wanna check him out:

he dropped a cute throwback jam today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XCN1YYLXss

and Off The Table… this my fav by him… a smooth r&b banger: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k5o8eyLeOOg
