Baby actually is happy when going to bed now

Just want to share our success story in case it helps anyone! I recently sleep trained my 5.5 month old using the Taking Cara Babies ABC approach (basically Ferber). The first week had a lot of ups and downs and there were so many points that I wanted to cave and just go rock him and hold him. He was the type of baby to cry for 30 minutes every night as I rocked and nursed him to sleep and would wake 8-10 times a night crying. All in all, he cried a lot prior to sleep training.

Now that we sleep trained, he actually smiles up at me and shrieks with delight every night when I set him fully awake in his crib. It’s like he’s excited to go to sleep! It’s the sweetest thing. I can tell he’s all around just a happier, more confident baby. And he sleeps straight through the night now. It was so hard to choose to sleep train- I felt judged by so many. But I feel we traded a few nights of increased crying for months/years of a happy little sleeper.

Baby is 5.5 months and we recent adjusted from 4 naps to 3 because he was starting to refuse the 4th nap every day and it was pushing his bed time past 8pm every night. So we switched to 3 doing 2/2.5/2.5/3. This will be our 4th night of sleep training doing Ferber and even though he’s sleeping 11 hours at night (minus feedings and wakes to cry) and sleeping 3 hours during the day, he just seems exhausted all the time. Like so fussy and rubbing his eyes constantly after the 2 hour mark for each of his wake windows today. By the time we got to bed time tonight, he wouldn’t even drink his normal night bottle because he was so sleepy. Poor thing. Is it possible I’m making him too over tired with this new nap schedule and that could hinder our success with sleep training? Thinking of switching back to 4 naps.

I have a 5.5 month old and we’re doing the ABCs sleep training right now. Prior to starting sleep training, I was nursing my little guy back to sleep 3-4 times a night. Since starting the ABCs, we’re doing an 11pm dream feed and a 4am feed that I started at 12 minutes and have been cutting back 2-3 minutes each night. Last night I did only 6 minutes for his 4am feed. Is it really worth going in there and interrupting his sleep tonight just to nurse him for 4 minutes? I feel like that may just upset him lol
