Two icons from the Group 4 era:
The Fiat 131 Abarth (1976–1980) was a purpose-built rally machine developed by Abarth, featuring a 2.0L DOHC engine producing around 140–245 hp depending on spec, rear-wheel drive and extensive weight reduction. It helped Fiat secure three WRC manufacturers’ titles (1977, 1978, 1980).
The Škoda 130 LR (mid-80s Group B homologation special) was based on a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout with a 1.3L engine (~130 hp), lightweight panels and improved suspension geometry. While not the most powerful, it became something of an underdog legend — especially in Eastern Europe, where it gained a strong cult following thanks to its durability and performance on rough stages.
