NVMe vs SATA SSD: what's the difference? SATA SSDs use the same cable as 2003 era hard drives and cap at 550 MB/s. NVMe M.2 drives connect directly to your CPU through PCIe lanes and hit 7,000 MB/s. If your gaming PC has slow boot times even with an NVMe SSD, the fix is disabling startup apps in Task Manager. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, click Startup Apps, and turn off Discord, Spotify, iCUE, Razer Synapse, and anything else you don't need at launch.
