FF7 / KH anniversaries
Late night musings so I’ll apologize ahead of time.
This has to do with Final Fantasy Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 so I thought this would be an appropriate place to post.
Was just thinking both FF7 and KH have major anniversaries coming up in 2027 and is it wrong to think we may not get anything for either franchise until then because they want to have major anniversary blow outs?
Everyone keeps saying we’ll get something this year, looking towards summer games fest or game awards. But I think maybe not.
Hear me out.
- Nomura already more or less confirmed a big celebration for KH anniversary. I also took his post to be his way of saying “don’t expect anything until then”
- Assuming KH isn’t coming out until 2028 at the earliest, makes sense to wait until the celebration and kick off the marketing campaign with an awesome trailer. Maybe make some joke comment about how the last trailer was 5 years ago at the last anniversary but here you go.
- We know FF7 likes to do this. For their last major anniversary we got Ever Crisis reveal, Crisis Core Reunion reveal, and Part 2 first trailer and title (if I remember correctly). That’s huge. You don’t think they’d want to do something like that for the 30th? Why give Keighly all the glory?
- we don’t have a release date for part 3 yet but I know people have been predicting late 2027 as the earliest. So if it’s late 2027 or early 2028 or whatever, the timing would make sense.
- KH4 potential release date who knows. But I think after FF7 part 3 is a safe bet. So 2028? 2029? Who knows.
- sure there can be merchandise and other things for celebration purposes but nothing is going to top trailers for these games.
- if nothing at summer games fest then that pretty much seals the deal for me. Because why do something at the game awards or another end of the year convention when you can wait a few short months for 2027 and have your anniversary celebrations?
Anyway it’s late and I’m in bed randomly thinking. What do you all think? Would love to open this up for discussion.
