With the wiring standard now including netural being run, does that apply to all light switches, outlets, junction boxes, etc.?
Do electricians then run netural wiring when adding lights, fans, etc. to homes built before 1980/85? I'm asking because I want any new wiring to include netural, but the electrician still only ran 12/2 wiring to the new ceiling boxes for fans. Is it such a challenge to include netural? Is it a code to upgrade to netural wiring when running new wiring, even if it's in an older home?
I can seem to get this guy to understand that with having to trench walls to add ceiling lights and fans, he may as well run it with netural, to go along with current standards and for many devices and fixtures that are now smart.
