Possible tendonitis
Posible tendinitis?
Hello. Eighteen months ago, I had surgery on my MPFL ligament, and almost everything went very well. Since then, I've been dealing with walking problems because my surgeon told me not to put any weight on my leg under any circumstances.
This caused terrible quadriceps atrophy. But I've been able to do all kinds of exercises at the gym, although it's VERY difficult for me to activate my quadriceps and VMO.
Well, a few weeks ago, I went to a concert and stood around without making any strange movements or dancing. It's true that I was VERY tense for fear of hurting myself, but there were no twists or extreme movements. And I didn't feel any extreme pain or any pain at all. The thing is, after that, as the days have gone by, I've been experiencing a lot of pain in the area where I had the graft and in the upper part of my vastus medialis. It hurts when I flex my leg at a specific point, but NOT when I fully flex it.
That is, it hurts halfway through flexion. It also hurts a lot when going down stairs, and when I contract my quadriceps, my quadriceps hurt. I went to the physiotherapist, and he did a series of tests and an ultrasound.
The graft is still solid and very stable. But he found some internal hematoma and fluid. He says that apparently the meniscus isn't affected, but that I should have an MRI to completely rule out a meniscal issue.
The strange thing is that I don't have any swelling in my kneecap, no locking, or any feeling of instability. He suggested that it could be tendinitis due to weak quadriceps muscles. He recommended gentle exercise.
Has anyone else experienced this? What could it be?
