Going to a wedding as a plus one with my partner (35-m)

Dress attire states: semi-formal to formal, elegance encouraged, anything between cocktail attire to black tie is acceptable.

Wedding is in May in Florida.

Is this appropriate and what should my partner wear to go with this dress? It’s a no on a tux.

Any ideas for shoes? I’m kind of scrambling because I’ve never been to an upscale wedding before.
