Fedora GNOME or KDE
Hi. I’m trying to decide between Fedora GNOME and Fedora KDE Plasma for daily use on my laptop:
- Acer Aspire A315-24P
- Ryzen 5 7520U
- Radeon 610M iGPU
- 16GB RAM
My priorities:
- good 125% scaling on Wayland
- smooth everyday performance
- some casual gaming (Steam/Lutris)
- programming/work
- stability over endless tweaking
About UI:
- I don’t really care about GNOME customization
- but I don’t like the default KDE look, so I’d probably customize Plasma a bit (transparency, widgets, maybe blur effects)
What I’m worried about:
- whether customized KDE Plasma becomes noticeably heavier/slower on Radeon 610M
- whether GNOME ends up being the more practical long-term choice despite less customization
For people using modern Fedora versions. Which one would you honestly choose for this hardware and why?
