I was obsessed with this game growing up but ofc only rented it thru Blockbuster

I remember having a really difficult time with it and playing it now as an adult I STILL do which I feel is maybe a controller issue? Some of the jumps are pretty difficult even in world 3 which I think is maybe a bit early to struggle. My current controller is vintage so I'm wondering is it worth it to try buying a modern one, and are there any that are known to have excellent d-pad input in particular? Or any tips n tricks to it that I'm just not getting maybe?

Really love the aesthetics and cuteness of the game so I'm determined to finally 100% it lol
